Rozerin Kahraman was born and grew up in the small village of Mezrasur near the town of Hozat Dersim. Due to battles between the Kurdish guerrilla and Turkish military forces, the family was forced to leave the home and move to the city of Elazig. Rozerin comes from a musical family.

She has two brothers playing and singing and at the earliest time she also noticed her musical talent and beautiful vocal voice. On her own she learned to play on the Kurdish string instrument Tembûr.
